Hello everyone!
I hope you’re doing well and enjoying this nice, warm weather. I wanted to share a quick update on my book editing progress and about life in general.
Editing Progress
I’m currently working through Chapter 5 out of 12, which means I’m about halfway through the self-editing process.
Since it’s Ramadan, my energy levels have been a bit lower than usual, so the pace has slowed somewhat. Even so, I’m continuing to make steady progress and remain deeply committed to bringing this book to life with the care and attention it deserves.
My goal is to complete the self-editing process by the end of June, around the time my youngest son, Adam, finishes the school year. After that, I’m planning a special trip to Egypt with Adam and my husband, which I’m very much looking forward to.
Life
Life outside of writing has been full of small, meaningful moments. My husband and I enjoyed a lovely Valentine’s Day dinner together and even shared a heart-shaped cake for dessert. Ramadan began on February 18 and will continue until March 19 or 20, depending on the moon sighting, so our household is currently centered around fasting, reflection, and family routines.
Adam has been keeping us busy. He recently participated in a board-breaking competition at his karate dojo and successfully broke several boards – including one with his head! Needless to say, we were very proud of him.
Two or three weeks ago, we had a big snowstorm. Adam’s karate sensei organized a spontaneous meet-up at a local park so the students could play in the snow together. Adam had an absolute blast, and it was wonderful seeing the kids enjoy the winter day.
I also had a chance to visit Adam’s classroom last week to read a Dr. Seuss book in honor of Dr. Seuss Day at his school. The students were engaged, attentive, and very well-behaved. It was such a fun and rewarding experience.
Once Ramadan ends, I’m hoping to put renewed energy into finishing the self-editing process. I’m also looking forward to a family trip we’re planning for next month during spring break – a little time to recharge before diving back into writing work.
Thank you for your continued patience, encouragement, and support. It truly means so much to me as I work toward sharing this story with you.
All the best,
Marianne Hartshorne
